Three Cheers for Jon
I have to take this opportunity to brag about Jon since he would never mention anything himself. Last week we went to his department's spring social during which they also hand out awards. Jon won the award for Research Assistant of the Year. He works really hard for his department and is always taking time from his own projects to help out anyone who needs his expertise. Overall he's just basically a genius and a super nice guy. So yeah for Jon.

But mary don't you think you could have called it something other than a "spring social" It brings images of a poorly lit gym decorated in crate paper, a wall lined with wall flowers and Jon in a mickey mouse tie, white shirt and docker pleated pants making achoice for the upcoming snowball dance.
