Lesser of the Two. . . ?

Emmeline to me: "I didn't call you dumb, mom. I called you dumpy."
Ah, yes. Thanks Emme. I feel much better.

A Child's Perspective

My sister is an elementary school teacher and we got a good laugh out of this.

The parent sent a note the following day:

Dear Mrs. Jones,
I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer.
I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot.
From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Ensemble

Oh how I miss my sisters! All three of them live in Georgia and when you get a couple of them together in a low blood sugar moment, this is what happens. . .

From my sister Alyson:
Dear Sweet Sister… in life, in the gospel, and in fashion. In our ever changing world, things ebb and flow. It’s difficult to hold on to anything that is permanent let alone universal. But we declare to you that the depth and sincerity of our friendship and our sisterhood is something that will never wane. This time of year we are reminded of our need to feel connected and united as sisters. Amid the hustle and bustle of looking for that special gift to bestow upon a friend, loved one, life partner, or sister, (beginning singing to the tune of ‘Twas’ The Night Before Christmas’)… "what to our wondering eyes should appear… but sapphire spandex stretch pant and a bejeweled festive sweater with a hint of cashmere. With our pair of red slippers, our cart we did fill as we made a B-line right out of Goodwill. On Amy, on Aly, on Liz it was “iffy”, Let’s send this ensemble to Mary in a jiffy! I heard the UPS man call, as he drove out of sight, “Mary, Christmas on you is a beautiful sight.” (May stop singing now) We hope our message “stretches” far and wide as you (fill, feel) the comfort, acceptance and certainty that this ensemble gives. These universal pants are a friend to all and a foe to none.

Peace On Earth, “Good-will” To You!!!

Amy channels her inner Martha Stewart while displaying the versatility of the ensemble--it bridges Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Liz hooks a hottie with a demure pose and a winning grin.

There's no need for mistletoe as Mary bestows a Christmas kiss, all while basking in the golden glow of ornaments and cheap sequins.

Alyson's confident pose and black boots lend a rocking biker tone to the ensemble.

I know I'll probably have lines of people at my door, eager to borrow this stunning outfit, but for now we've decided to keep it in the sisterhood.

Max Update

So I wanted to post some pictures of Max and small videos of him. He is growing but I also wanted to show you Max compared to a friend of his. Samson is a month older than Max and about about 5 lbs bigger. Max weighs 17 lbs and I think Samson weighs 22 lbs at 5 months. He is a big kid.

Here are some pictures of Max and his cousin Sophia. She is a week younger than he.

Bon Voyage

My parents left the MTC today and flew to Switzerland. After sending eight of their children on missions, it's now their turn. We are all so proud of them!

Fair Warning: This Is a Nursing Post

Have you all heard about the woman who posted pictures of herself breastfeeding on Facebook? Facebook removed the pictures because they considered them, and any pictures including nudity, obscene. Now, I'm not going to join that debate, but I have been thinking lately about the whole breastfeeding in public question. Yesterday I took Emme to storytime at the library and Max needed to eat. So I whipped out my cute little nursing cover and just took care of business. I couldn't help but notice, however, the little sideways glances from the other library patrons. And I'm sure that the father seated across from me was not nearly as fascinated by the Highlights magazine as he appeared to be. With three kids though, I can't always schedule home feedings perfectly. Are some public places more/less appropriate to nurse in? Parks, yes? Restaurants, no? Or fast food restaurants, yes? Fancy restaurants, no? Movies, yes? Concerts, no? Or movies, no? What to do?!

As I've been writing this I've been reminded of all my nursing history, if you will.
Did you know that I can nurse and. . .
try on clothes in an Old Navy dressing room
make chocolate chip cookies (no one will ever eat my food again! I promise it was all kosher!)
interview for a temple reccomend (over the phone)
shave Jon's neck (he's probably going to kill me for that)
wipe little bottoms
blog (though not at this moment, fyi)
travel (planes, trains, and automobiles)
put toddlers down for a nap

Wow! Pretty impressive. Better go update my resume. . . "Excellent multitasker"
