Funny Emme

So I was going through some old files on my computer and found these pictures and sent them to Mary to reminisce younger versions of the girls.

Here is the ensuing conversion:

Mary: aw, cute kids
me: I know, you did good work
Mary: although I don't know if I want the credit for a child with a toilet seat on her head.
me: lol

A note from Mary: As long as we're talking about toilets, I just had to throw in this lovely anecdote. The other day Emme was going potty and made this little gem of an observation--"Hey, Mom! Your hair is brown, just like poop. And my hair is yellow, just like pee!" Thanks Emme. Nothing gets past you kid.

Olive Garden In My Home

I'm going to take a moment and brag about Mary. We had some friends coming over for a visit so we decided to make a good meal. Mary also found a recipe in the Food Network Magazine that imitates Olive Garden salad. So last night, Mary made:

We didn't have time to make the bread sticks but had store bought ones instead. (they were ok) So in short Mary brought Olive Garden to me last night and it ruled. It was really good. On a side/funny note, make sure you read/plan ahead when making the soup. We can now feed everyone on this side of the Mississippi with the amount of soup we made last night. Good work babe, it was great!

Oh Boy!

Max has been such a good baby. I even told Jon a few weeks ago that I wouldn't mind having another one fairly soon, maybe 2 years apart instead of 3. But then I caught myself. Maybe I should wait until he gets mobile to make plans for another baby, I thought. And oh boy, is he getting mobile! He hasn't even officially started crawling, but by scooting and rolling he can pretty much get anywhere he wants to go.

Here's what I've taken away from him in the last week:
DVD's (he managed to get the case open and get the actual DVD out)
the heating/cooling vent
a surge strip
a box of glassware I'm taking to DI
Emme's prescription medicine
a chunk of celery
and of course the usual keys, paper, markers, money, etc.

Did I mention he's not even 8 months yet? Cute, crazy boy.

How I Know I'm a Nerd

This came in Sunday's newspaper. Even though I wasn't feeling well this weekend, I couldn't stop thinking about it. This morning I was gathering newspaper for the recycling bin and I just had to sit down and figure it out. Thank goodness it wasn't much more than simple order of operations and basic algebra. I don't remember a thing from trigonometry or calculus so I would've been a goner if it had been any more difficult. In fact, I remember spacing out through most of calculus because I was sure I would never need math in "real life." Who knew you would need it to read the comics!

Inside Jon's Head

  1. Why is it that after a night rain storm I alway have a huge drop of water fall from a tree branch and hit me on the head? What if I had dropped my keys earlier that morning, would I have been in that same spot to get hit when the water drop dropped?
  2. Why do good ideas come when you least expect them and when you are the least prepared to write them down?
  3. How do people get to college and not know how to think?
  4. Why do I get hayfever after a rain storm?
  5. Does anyone really watch soap operas?
  6. When I sneeze do I sound like my dad when he sneezes?
  7. Why do me and Mary like Indian food so much?
  8. How do you make something taste initially sweet and then have other spices come in after a few bites in?
  9. Do red necks choose to stay red necks? If so why?
  10. When red necks go to get a haircut, do they ask for the mullet by name or just describe it, short in the front and long in the back?
  11. Why do hotdogs taste better in the stadium than at home?
